Written Goals by David Adeleke

People live up to what they have written down. According to the Harvard Business Review (HBR OnPoint 2001, PN* 7915), once someone puts something in writing, the odds that he or she will fulfill the commitment greatly increases. This principle of life is proven in several ways; for example, people who write down their goals are much more likely to follow, remember and fulfill these goals than people who do not write them down. Furthermore, once someone puts a commitment into writing, they feel they are obliged to fulfill it. This explains why successful organizations have the habit of putting up their mission statements, visions and core values all over the walls of their offices. This serves as a way of reminding their stakeholders about the direction in which they are heading.

Of course, this rule, as scientifically proven as it is, doesn’t work for everybody. There are those that, no matter how much writing they do, will never live by their commitments and achieve their goals. However, that shouldn’t be you. The understanding of this rule has helped improve my level of productivity. For example, before heading into the youth service year, I made a list of 12 goals I must achieve by July 2015. Two, out of those goals have been achieved, one of which is to become a feature writer on Bella Naija (oya, clap for me now!). Also, the fact that I wrote down my goals as afforded me the opportunity of revisiting and updating them almost weekly. In the last four months, I have updated the list more than twice. In the process, I took out the goals that no longer

Many leaders around the world talk about transformation and that is even the song on the lips on my own leaders at the moment. They think that they can just create some documents, have nice power points or some great TV commercials and the people will believe that they can truly transform the country or the jurisdiction they have to lead.

Transformation is not in what you say or even think that you will do. You can’t transform the people you are leading or the place you are leading just by doing very nice public relations. Take a look at all the leaders around the world who have truly done some transformation where they are. It is glaring that they did not do it with all the technological tools that we use to bamboozle the people we are trying to lead today.

If you are going to transform the people you lead or the place where you are leading you will need the real heart to transform. Transformation is not something that will just be on your lips and you think it can happen. You must have the people in your heart. It is important to have the goals, ambitions, welfare of those places and people first in your heart and truly love them before you can transform anything.

31 babies born during the RCCG Holy Ghost congress

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, pastor E.A Adeboye announced that as at Friday 12th of December, 2014, a total of 31 babies have been given birth to in the Redeemed camp since the beginning of the program, 19 male and 12 female children.

The General Overseer also said everyone should ensure they get their voters card, it's a condition to participate in the release of the new blessings upon you. Yes, it's that serious.

APC (All Progressive Congress) through a statement released by the party's National publicity secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has commended the party members, security operatives, media, of course Lagosians and others, for their sacrifices and efforts to ensure that the 2 days convention held by the party in Lagos was successful.

Instagram hits over 300 million monthly users (Hard work and focus pays)

I read about the C.E.O and co-founder of Instagram (Kevin Systrom) on Business Insider. 

Kevin grew up in a small town in Massachusetts, northeastern United States.

He started practicing computer programming after his primary school and he studied Management Science and Engineering in the university but his passion for programming continued as he went along.

He interned at Odeo (a company founded in 2005 by Evan Williams) which later turned into Twitter while he was in the university. He worked in Google, Nextstop and kept going with his passion till he met some investors from Base line Ventures and Andresen Horowitz who invested in his passion. At this time he invited Mike Krieger (the co-founder and technical lead) to join him.

The two of them created a product called burbn (a check-in app), after going through different procedures, they birthed Instagram and made photo sharing

What we have as leaders in our countries will always reflect the kinds of people within our society. The person who is the arrow head may not necessarily be the representation of most of the people but the bitter truth is that he or she is still from within that system. So if we must have the right leaders, it is very important to have the right systems beginning with the citizens.

We cannot always think that the problem will be solved when our leaders change. I understand how important change in leadership is. However, we can continue to change leaders and still not change the issue that is bringing in irresponsible leaders.

The people we call leaders today are those who left our schools, families, communities, churches, mosques and other smaller groups. We saw them and knew what they could do. We heard them and also noted that they had nothing to offer. We were in a position to

I won't lie to you, I am photo lover, I could stay glued to a screen just looking at photographs (lovely ones), it makes me just smile and smile and smile, even when I am not on the screen again, the joy follows me all the way.

One of the things that make a race really beautiful is how well the athlete finishes the race. There are times when the athlete may get off to a rough start for one reason or the other. When that happens, people may pity the athlete and even conclude that the race is lost while it is just getting started. For some other athletes, the race may start well and get rough along the line. That may also affect the result of the race.

Some people get a shaking and they are able to shake off everything and get back into the race properly in order to finish well. Then there are those who may also start well and continue well until the last phase of the race. It just may be then that they will mess up or relax because they think they have gotten to the end and that the race is already concluded.

When I was a secondary school student I used to see a lot of students racing because my school was so active in sports. I even remember vividly a young man we used to call Silvernus back then. He was in his final year and was also the fastest runner in the whole school. The second fastest guy happened to be the senior prefect of the school.
