If it doesn’t touch your head | © Fola Daniel Adelesi
I remember a young friend of mine sitting next to me some years back when we were all members of the National Youth Service Corp far away in Sokoto state, Nigeria. She said something that I have never forgotten. Her mother who happens to be nurse said to her, ‘no matter how you fall or where you fall, just make sure you don’t hit your head.’ That sounded like a health tip to her but to me it is far more than a health tip. There is a life lesson to be learnt from that. Some people have hit their heads – mental capacity – in life.
Try hard to make sure you don’t hit your head whenever you fall. No matter what happens, protect your head. Isn’t that why they made laws for us to wear protected helmets in some work places? I also remember that a few years back in Lagos state, the government insisted that all commercial motor bike riders must wear helmets and also have one ready for their passengers.
Now I am not going to the issue of physical health but to the issue of mental capacity as a result of the fall that we experience in life. Many of us have fallen so hard in life that we have hit our heads during the fall. What that means is that we went through certain things in life and those things got the better of us. Those issues took out thinking capacity.
You will find some people who are extremely negative and you will wonder why they are negative. The reason they are negative is simple. It is because of

Nuggets for you
- There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure.
- Courage is the ladder on which all the other virtues mount.
- Just know, when you truly want success, you'll never give up on it. No matter how bad the situation may get.
- Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.
- To believe in the things you can see and touch is no belief at all but to believe in the unseen is a triumph and a blessing.

My Ex is Tormenting My Husband at Work
Stt got this email from a reader who needs help, see her story below.
My husband is working under my ex-boyfriend, so basically my
ex is my husband’s boss at the moment. Their relationship has been cordial for
a long time now. His boss never knew I am his wife until recently, they got talking
and one thing led to the other, my husband mentioned my name and my surname,
his boss was curious and he eventually discovered I’m the one.
Ever since my husband’s boss discovered that my husband is
actually the person I jilted him for, he has been on my husband’s neck for
everything at his work place, it has been a real torment since then.
My husband is not aware I have dated his boss before. He
complains to me every day he gets home from work of how the boss gave him
queries and did disgrace him especially in front of junior colleagues for no
just cause.
My husband is just wondering where he has offended his boss,
I know why the boss is mean to him. It is out of bitterness that I left him
then, but it’s not my husband’s fault, I know he is just trying to get back at
me.
Please I don’t know what to do right now, I’m confused.
Should I open up to my husband now? Won’t he wonder why I have not told him
since?
What is job security doing to your mind? | © Fola Daniel Adelesi
It is obvious that the unemployment figures here in Nigeria are not looking good. Sometimes we also have the tendencies to think that the grass is greener on the other side. We strive as much as possible to get there only to see that the grass is not even close to green as it appeared on the other side. This has made some people overnight entrepreneurs and they seem to be doing well at it.
There are those not doing so well but they are able to put something on the table just to make sure either they or the entire family will not go to bed hungry. A few others are trying to take all the lessons they can take just to make sure that they go beyond running a business to eat. They want their businesses to go global and

Toyosi Phillips: Trigger Your Support System
Ever wonder why the oddest of sects
have the followers they do? Do you often wonder why you hear about a particular
belief and find that it has hundreds and even thousands of devotees?
The
same applies to businesses. One person’s great idea today becomes a blooming
business tomorrow, and slowly but steadily the business’ following increases
and you find it having loyal customers who stay vouching for their products.
And
of course, there are human beings like you and me with thousands and millions
of supporters that stay loyal and rise to their defence at the slightest whim. Did
someone say Beyhive?
What
these 3- the subgroups, the businesses and the individuals- have in common is
their clear sense of direction. They continually walk/work towards goals that
they’ve set for themselves and this is one major reason why their external
support system thrives!

clarify, as with all things there’s the rule and there are exceptions to the
rule. People undeniably support different groups and individuals for reasons
