Excerpts from Maj. Gen Buhari’s Interview on CNN

When asked how he felt about the postponement the election, Gen. Buhari said  “Well my reaction is that of disappointment because, the presentation made by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was that they were ready to conduct the election on the date they fixed a year ago and for them to be forced virtually by the military that, they cannot guarantee the safety of their workers, they have to concede to the demand of the military of additional 6 weeks, now since that 6 weeks is within the constitutional time allowed, this is was we came and asked our supporters to remain calm and resolute and obey the laws"

On why the military has not been able to take on Boko Haram, he said “Well this has been made much clearer, when the National Assembly attempted to conduct a hearing after soldiers were given interview to hold on the media about being sent to the war without proper weapons, the National Assembly attempted to conduct a hearing a hearing by getting the budget approved by the National Assembly over the last 3 years and invite their service chief to come and tell them why is it the weapons were not produced and sent to the soldiers. So it shows the misapplication or misappropriation of resources provided by the government to what consist why the Nigeria military was unable to defeat Boko Haram”

On his endorsement by Obasanjo ,he said that the endorsement will bring more supporters to him especially those sitting on the fence, he also said that Gen Olusegun Obasanjo is highly respected in Nigeria.

Then when asked if he will be a dictator, he said it would be a harsh judgment on him individually with people thinking that what happened in the military rule will be extended to a democratic rule.

While also asked about defeating Boko Haram and corruption, he said, he thinks that the APC government will be able to defeat the insurgents. Theon corruption, he said there is no option but to tackle corruption if not, it will kill Nigeria.
