TransAsia flight hits Taipei Bridge, crashes into river



Twelve people have been confirmed dead after TransAsia flight in Taiwan crashed into a river after hitting a road bridge.

It was a domestic flight from Taipei Songshan Airport with intentions to go to Kinmen .The flight, which was carrying 58 people, crashed shortly after takeoff.


Rescuers worked hard to pull out survivors from the air craft and some survivors were seen swimming with their life jackets on. Reports say about 16 people were rescued but some people were still trapped. 

Television pictures showed a part of the bridge next is damaged, with small pieces of the aircraft spread along the road. The plane was reported to have also hit a taxi with passengers, the passengers sustained some injuries but are in a stable condition after they were taken to the hospital.

The weather appeared to be clear when the plane took off according to reports.

It was also reported that among the passengers were 31 Chinese tourists and 2 children.
