Bird Flu hits Kano and Lagos

Listening to news early hours of this morning on the radio, it was said that bird flu has hit some poultry farms in Lagos and Kano states.

They said the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development  announced this on Thursday.

But that the ministry has assured the public that they are determined to contain the disease and that they have quarantined the birds and place a restriction of movement to the premises, they also urged the public to co-operate with the Ministry to achieve a positive result in fighting this outbreak.

Avian influenza, called bird flu informally, refers to influenza caused by viruses adapted to birds. It is highly infectious.
