The Nigerian Immigration Service controller in Sokoto State, Mr Yunusa Aliyu
told journalists yesterday that, it has seized 452 Nigerian National documents
in Niger Republic. 33 temporary voters cards, 66 Permanent voters cards, 340 National
I.D cards, 1 local government I.D card and 12 birth certificates.
He said, the documents were seized by the NIS officers along
Sokoto Gusau Road when a vehicle they stopped for search refused to stop.
According to him, they chased the vehicle, they were unable to catch the thieves
as they fled and abandoned the vehicle.
He said, the vehicle was later handed over to the police as
the suspects were not caught.
He also said, the NIS will continue to watch out to address situations
like this in case they come up again.
